“If you are going through hell, keep going!” – Winston Churchill
Life is full of change and adjustments, both large and small. Having grown-up as an Army “brat” and being a retired Army officer and aviation professional himself, Herman (Dr. Lukow) has been exposed to a wide variety of experiences and people which helps him understand diverse challenges to tailor his counseling approaches to the unique needs of each client.
He works very hard to honor his client’s experiences and honor their expertise in running their own lives, while at the same time assisting and encouraging the discovery of new, workable solutions to their problems.
Herman is a mental health “generalist” who provides counseling to adults for any number of challenges to include depression, anxiety, adjustment to life transitions, infidelity, separation, coping with ADD/HD and recovery from addictions as well as from traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other traumas.
He employs a variety of techniques drawing upon cognitive behavioral, rational-emotive, solution-focused, and narrative therapies. He embraces the importance of promoting a resilient response to injury for survivors (and caregivers) of TBI and other trauma. He incorporates principles of mindfulness and grounding in all his work.
