Cognitive Processing Therapy
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy developed specifically to treat trauma. Through safely paced writing and discussion exercises, clients are able to “reprocess” their trauma in a way that reduces PTSD symptoms. CPT is particularly beneficial to those experiencing physiological symptoms (e.g., panic attacks, nightmares, flashbacks) that are part of the limbic system’s automatic “fight or flight” response.
