Cognitive Processing Therapy

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based therapy for clients who desire to address the negative thoughts and symptoms that can result from a traumatic event. CPT is an active treatment with assignments in between sessions and involves writing a detailed account of the traumatic event (to identify the connection between thoughts and feelings connected to the trauma). This therapy focuses on improving overall quality of life by addressing the traumatic event’s impact on safety, trust, power, control, esteem, and intimacy.
