Life Coaching

What is life coaching?

Life coaching helps people to achieve their goals by identifying and suggesting different actions to create the future they desire. Life coaches are skilled at drawing out a person’s wisdom to maximize their potential.  Life coaches help clients consider options, take steps, and maintain new behaviors.  They spend time with clients to establish goals, set priorities, monitor progress, and overcome set-backs.  Life coaches are skilled at getting clients to look inward and identify their core values to guide them in achieving their goals.  Life coaching is useful in transitions such as divorce, career changes, or a desire for a new beginning. LIfe coaching can help you set a vision and bring it to fruition.

Coaching versus counselling.

The major difference between therapy and life coaching is the focus of the work:  therapy focuses on mental health and emotional healing, while life coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals.

Life coaching is not covered by insurance.

Coaching is not therapy.  Therapy addresses a mental health diagnosis.  Some coaching techniques are therapeutic, but the goal of coaching is not to treat a mental health disorder such as anxiety or depression.
